Happy new smashing year Milavers! 2014 has arrived and we’d like to wish you all the best! May this year bring only good things to all of us. This year we have 6 movies to be released: Blood Ties on March 21, Jupiter Ascending on July 18, Tar, Hell & Back, Third Person and The Angriest Men in Brooklyn which dates are yet unknown. Sounds exciting don’t you think?
What’s better way to start the new year than review the past one? We’ve been told multiple times that 2013 has seemed quite calm in many aspects. Personally, we think it should be referred to as one of the biggest for Mila.
First quarter of the year was dedicated to Oz. Released on March 8, with amazing box office success $493,311,825 in total. The movie promotion included several TV spots such as the Superbowl one, very own lines of make up, shoes, clothes, accessories products, Google Chrome app, Temple Run game and many more. Worldwide premiere took place in LA (February 13), followed by Moscow (February 27) and London (February 28). Oz landed on DVD / Blu-ray on June 11.
2. Magazine Covers
In 2013 Mila ruled the world through the well known magazines – Marie Claire, Allure, Instyle, THR, Glamour, GQ, EW, Joy, Cleo, etc…. Her Instyle issue (feat. Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams) is among the best selling of the year.
3. 2013 TV Shows
As a part of Oz promo tour Mila appeared on 5 TV shows: Ellen Degeneres and Conan O’Brien in February, Graham Norton, Ant & Dec and Urgant Show in March.
Mila became the face of Gemfields in February – starting with launch party sponsored by W magazine. Shortly before the announcement, she visited Gemfields’ emerald mines in Zambia, touring its Kagem mine where about 20% of the world’s emeralds are said to be produced. Gorgeous campaign appeared in Vogue, Vanity Fair, Bazaar, Tatler and W. In March, Mila and Gemfields hosted VIP showcase at Philips de Pury gallery in London.
Forbes announced their annual list of The Best Actors for The Buck (2013). For those who don’t know: this is the list of stars who make the highest return on investments for the studio. We’re pleased to inform you that Mila ranked 2nd – returns $68.70 for every $1 paid.
Ranking second behind Stone is Mila Kunis, with an average return of $68.70 for every $1 she was paid. Kunis had two huge hits in the past two years: Ted and Oz The Great and Powerful. We estimate that between June 2012 and June 2013 she earned $11 million, which was enough to land her on our most recent Celebrity 100. Like Stone, Kunis is now in a position to start demanding much more money per film. That will likely ding her return on investment number.

Lionsgate has acquired The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, a film starring Robin Williams as a man who finds out he only has 90 minutes to live.
Written by Daniel Taplitz and directed by Phil Alden Robinson, the film also stars Mila Kunis, Melissa Leo, Peter Dinklage and Hamish Linklater. Landscape Entertainment’s Bob Cooper and Tyler Mitchell produced the film with Daniel J. Walker of Force Majeure. The film was financed by MICA Entertainment and Vedette Finance. Cargo Entertainment is handling foreign sales; WME brokered the domestic deal.
Shot on location in Brooklyn, NY last fall, The Angriest Man in Brooklyn follows a man (Williams) who is told by his doctor Dr. Sharon Gill (Kunis) that he only has 90 minutes to live. He storms out of the hospital, panics and races through Brooklyn in an attempt to right all of the wrongs in his life. His doctor, meanwhile, scrambles to find him and get him into surgery.
Lionsgate is planning a day and date theatrical/VOD specialty release, according to the announcement.
“We are thrilled that Lionsgate has come aboard for The Angriest Man in Brooklyn,” says Robinson. “The film features incredible performances by Robin and Mila and a great supporting cast. We cannot wait to share it with audiences across the country. The film pushes us all to face the hypothetical question, “What is important in your life? What is important to you?”
The film, featuring a cast led by Liam Neeson, Kim Basinger and Adrien Brody, had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
Sony Pictures Classics has acquired U.S., German and Scandinavian rights to Third Person, written and directed by Paul Haggis.
Featuring a cast that includes Liam Neeson, Kim Basinger, Adrien Brody, James Franco, Olivia Wilde, Mila Kunis and Maria Bello, Third Person takes place in three cities — Paris, Rome and New York — and tells three seemingly unconnected tales.
“Paul Haggis is one of our great movie storytellers and Third Person is one of his best works featuring an exceptional cast led by Liam Neeson (also at his best). We are excited to bring Third Person to American audiences,” Sony Pictures Classics said in a statement included in the announcement.
Michael Nozik of Hwy61 and Haggis produced the film, along with Paul Breuls of Corsan, which also financed the movie and is selling at AFM.
Third Person had its world premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
Sony Pictures Classics, CAA and Paradigm negotiated the deal.
